THe Dakine Hot Laps 5L waist Bag is a practical hip pack. Dakine delivered a basic but functional bag that strikes a happy medium in size and features.

The pack uses a bladder and hose hydration system. The bladder holds up to 2 liters of water. A phaser bike valve is located at the end of the hose. 

It features a magnetic clip that holds the hose on the waistband. This helps to store the hose while riding and makes removing and replacing it for drinking quick and easy. 

The bladder is rectangular in shape and measures approximately 6 * 11 inches. It has a slider-top closing system. There is no cap to screw on to seal it back up. 

THe bag features a little bit narrower straps then some of the most comfortable packs. The straps of the Dakine Hot Laps are of average comfort.  

IT has two main pockets. One Large, open pocket that holds the hydration bladder and one located closure to the font of the bag. Morove, the front storage compartment has organizational pockets for things like tools and keys. 

There are two webbing compression straps on the bottom of the pack that you can use to carry a shell jacket or some lightweight knee pads on the outside.

The Patagonia Nine Trails is a functional, lightweight and versatile waist pack. With the 8 liter of capacity this is a decent option for riders who want to go on a longer ride or bring more along with them. 

The hose of the pack has a good routing and avoids any sharp bend which can hamper the water flow. 

The hose has an appropriate length and will work well for riders even with the longer torso.

The Osprey Seral Lumbar is a large hip pack which is suitable for long rides for carrying plenty of supplies. 

The hose and bladder both are well designed and the drinking motion doesn’t require excessive force to get a good haul off it. There is a magnetic attachment on the waist that makes it handy to pull the hose off when you want a drink. 

In order to fill the bladder you have to remove the entire bladder and the hose. As the hose isn’t routed through some small hole on the side of the bag therefore it is pretty easy to pull the bladder out of it. 

The bladder is roughly the size of the zippered opening , so removal requires pulling the bag directly out of the top. 

The portion of the bag that sits against the back is soft and allows dcent airflow. Moreover, there is a light screen that covers the same ribbed material. The ridges in the plastic help promote air movement to allow moisture and heat to escape.
